Level 3 Media Production
2019-2020
by Louis Kolter
Welcome to my showcase, on this page is all of my best work from the past year of Level 3 Media, all 4 units are below, keep scrolling down the page to see all of the work. This was made as part of the DV8 end of year showcase 2019-2020. I hope you enjoy!
Unit 1 - Podcast Production
This was the first unit, where we we made our own podcasts on the topic of our choice, my podcast was about European pop music or Europop, called Euro Introducing.
Unit 2 - Digital Content
In this unit, we took the concept of the podcast and turned it into a brand, creating social media pages, logos and banners to promote our podcasts, links to the social media pages are near the bottom of this section if you want to have a look yourself.
Unit 3 - Vlog Production
In the vlog unit, we took our podcast and brand and turned it into a vlog or a TV show, essentally creating a second podcast episode, but visual.
Unit 4 - Music Video Production
In the final unit, we made our own music videos to a song of our choice, with our own ideas. This is the story of how I and everyone esle had to adapt our plans to film and create this at home during the lockdown, which unexpectidly changed this unit for the better.
Unit 1
Podcast Production
A view of Logic Pro X, where nearly all of the editing for the podcasts took place. Track management was key, as dealing with intro's, outros, stings, interviews and music required a lot of organisation. After many scripts, mood boards, rationales and floor plans I recorded my podcast, and I am very pleased with the result, for my first time ever doing this.
Listen to my podcast here
My podcast was about introducing European pop music or 'Europop' to a UK audience, I came up with the name 'Euro Introducing'. It includes an intro & outro, europop music, interviews about europop and a rundown of the current top songs from several european countries. Enjoy!

Here is the banner that is used for my channel art on social media, it consists of a stock concert image with my brand name and logo on top.
This is the logo for my podcast. I designed it myself, it has a transmitter tower with radiation to show 'broadcasting' as podcasts are broadcast to a wide audience online.
One of my many concepts for my logo, including a map of Europe with a microphone.
Another concept for my logo, headphones with the European flag.
The final design with just the gradient and the logo, which is my profile picture on social media.
Here is an early logo concept, with the map and microphone design, but with the colours inverted.
This idea eventually became a promotional poster, using only two colours.
When designing a logo, you have to think about the colours used and how viewers react, in this design I was just experimenting.
Seeing how different colours create a different feel to it.
My original logo design which has also become my profile picture on social media, but without the dots.
Another promotional poster concept
Last, design concept for the profile picture, with the concert in the background,
Yep, we even created our own promotional memes!
During a photo shoot on Brighton seafront one gloriously sunny morning, I took pictures of the surroundings that represent the summer and holidays, which is the type of music that Europop reminds you of. These pictures created some stunning promotional images, which I am very proud of. You can view these images in full size in the slideshow at the top of this section and on the Euro Introducing social media pages.

and just like that, my brand was created...
Promotional video for the Euro Introducing podcast and brand, filmed in the music studio in the basement at DV8, it shows music production with instruments and tech equipment. I have also used this video as the intro to my vlogs as you will see in the next unit.
Unit 3
Vlog Production
The objective was to make 2 short vlog episodes, I continued my idea of Euro Introducing from the podcast and turned it into a vlog, so it was just like making another podcast episode, but with visuals. After deep research into vlogs, vlog equipment and artwork associated with Europop artists, seen in the mood boards above, after more scripts, rationales, location hunting and hours of planning, I filmed my vlogs and edited them (using Premiere), I am again very happy with the final result.
Watch my first vlog episode here
My first vlog episode was about the 'Euro chart', the top and current trending songs in the Europop genre, like in the podcast, but this time with the addition of the music videos, this is also the first time that I used a green screen and the first time that I filmed myself in front of a camera, enjoy!
Watch my second vlog episode here
My second vlog episode has the same layout as the first, as I filmed them both on the same days. This episode was about the best Europop songs of 2019 and the best new songs (ones to watch) that could go far in 2020, enjoy!

Still of a time lapse of the sunset, seen in the video, focused on the spire of a nearby monistary.
A hyper-lapse of the west pier on Brighton seafront. This was a first time try of filming in hyper-lapse for me and the results were superb.
A hyper-lapse of Kemp Street near the Laines in Brighton. This was the best and longest hyperlapse I've filmed, shortly before the lockdown.
Watch my music video here
This is my music video that I planned and filmed myself, made to the song 'Lost In Yesterday' by Tame Impala, it really has a more powerful meaning being made during the pandemic and resembles what life in lockdown is like, it is about the sudden passing of time and how the days roll into one. It's really the highlight piece of work that represents the whole year and stands out the most for me. It is also the video for 'Walk the Line' by Filta, who asked if they could use it for their song, to which I said yes! It has received a lot of support and I have put so much hard work into making it, hope you enjoy!
You've reached the end of the page. Thank you very much for taking the time to view my showcase of this year's work. I hope you enjoyed. Why not visit another?
